  2. New Sage SalesLogix Cloud Capabilities - Story From: Larry Ritter's Development Blog articles When we introduced the Sage SalesLogix Cloud earlier this year we hinted at a new generation of capabilities based on our approach.  Today, we are pleased to announce 2 new additions to our growing Sage SalesLogix Cloud family.   Managed Cloud Servers: Many customers have additional on-premise applications they need to integrate with CRM.  In typical SaaS systems, one either needs to integrate the on-premise application with their Cloud based CRM or port the application to a proprietary Cloud language/environment.  Sage SalesLogix Cloud runs on standards, so a Windows based application can now be added through our new Managed Cloud Servers.  Customers select an instance size and we turn on the server.  The customer installs the application in the Managed Cloud Server and the Sage monitoring provides insight as to server availability and other server metrics.  The Managed Cloud Server is a great way to get practical benefits and simplify your IT workload – all conveniently packaged and paid for on a subscription basis.   Staging Environment: When upgrading from version to version or adding/changing customizations a suitable test environment is critical.  With the new Sage SalesLogix Cloud Staging Environment, customers receive 1 day for each month in their contract.  For example a 12 month contract provides 12 days of the identical environment.  The days can be used contiguously or in smaller blocks.  Sage provides a snapshot of the current database and makes it easy to transition between the environments to support testing, development and “go live” into production.  This fully supports a key differentiator of Sage SalesLogix Cloud where the customer, not the vendor controls the upgrade cycle.     Contact your business partner or visit our website to learn more about Sage SalesLogix Cloud.   Read today's press release   Larry...

  5. Sage SalesLogix Clouds are Forming! - Story From: Larry Ritter's Development Blog articles Good Clouds that is!  This morning the Sage CRM Solutions team issued a press release stating we are beginning a pilot project designed to deliver SalesLogix in the “Cloud”.  What this means is we intend to offer customers the same great SalesLogix experience but delivered through an offsite data center and licensed in a subscription, software as a service SaaS fashion.  So how is this possible? As we look back on 1st generation SaaS, to be a provider it took competence in the application, the data center and the necessary billing and provisioning infrastructure.  Advances in virtualization technology and readily available compute capacity from leading vendors such as Amazon with “Elastic Cloud Computing” aka EC2 are driving major changes.  By leveraging these new capabilities, we can offer SalesLogix as a “new” generation system with important customer benefits: Customers will have more control and input in upgrading to a new release.  SalesLogix Cloud will be delivered as a “single tenant” solution that puts the customer in control of the timing of an upgrade, not the SaaS vendor.Flexible delivery – it may make sense for you to be on premise today and in the Cloud tomorrow.  Or, one part of your company has a strong on-premise need while another is disposed toward SaaS.  SalesLogix will provide choices for what’s best for your business.Data ownership.  Your data is critical to your business.  With SalesLogix Cloud, your will always have full access and use of your data since we use industry standard databases.  If you move from the Cloud to on-premise you will be able to continue to use your data with SalesLogix on-premise.Full customization.  Unlike multi-tenant solutions that necessarily need to restrict coding and customization practices, SalesLogix Cloud will have the full customization capability of SalesLogix as we know it today.Local partner support.  With SalesLogix in the Cloud you’ll continue to enjoy an effective relationship with your existing SalesLogix Business Partner.  They know your business and can provide the same helpful services as they always have.     This is just a taste of what we have in mind with SalesLogix in the Cloud.  At last month’s SalesLogix training Boot Camp we provided Amazon EC2 instances of SalesLogix to enable our business partners to begin doing demonstrations and proof of concepts in the Cloud.  I know a considerable number of them are now routinely doing their demos in the Cloud and everyone is quite excited. I wanted to share this bit of news and ask you to standby for more updates on this in the near future.  We feel this directional change will provide such significant new options for SalesLogix from a buying, owning and use experience, we wanted to let you know!  Looking forward to the journey,  Larry Message Edited by LarryRitter on 09-14-2009 10:53 AM...
